CSI web server freezes

Paul Heinrich Jul 13, 2018 09:14 PM

Hello,

I have a website (weather.sega.nau.edu) that uses the lates RTMC Pro, LNDB, MySQL and the CSI webserver to display current data from about 14 weather stations.  The site works really well at first, but after a time it will freeze and all of the controls display the exclaimation point error icons.  If I restart the server, the web site goes back to working great.  The whole system is running on a VM with Windows Server 2016 Standard.  Any advice on what might be causing this problem?  Could it have to do with available resources?

When the CSI webserver is in this condition, open Task Manager in Windows. See if anything is maxed out at 100% on the main screen. Let us know what you are seeing there. We can then go from there.

Also, when CSi webserver is running in this condition, is the Windows user interface sluggish at all?

Have you had any recent Windows Updates. They have caused problems for other people as well. People with Windows 7 had to uninstall KB4338818. This other forum link has some the following information that is the most useful.

My research and personal experience with my own LoggerNet server indicates that the July Windows update appears to have caused numerous issues with server services (Web, FTP, SQL, etc.), particularly regarding opening listening ports. LoggerNet is also a server and opens various listening ports. The following article has links to updated/fixed Microsoft KBs. You may or may not want to give one a try. The one you need depends on which Windows OS you have. The one I downloaded and applied for Windows Server 2012 R2 did fix the listening port issue I ran into on my LoggerNet after the July Windows update.

Regardless of whether LoggerNet is installed as a service or not, it does have a communications server at its core, and that communications server is providing communications services, which includes opening listening ports.

If or when you do a Windows Update again, I think you'll find that the original problem KB will be reinstalled, but the fix KB will be shown as an option when you return to Windows Update once the problem KB is installed.

Hi Gary,

Windows interface on the server and client seems just fine. Also, MySQL queries to the database seem to be normal.  Is there a why to see the actual queries generated by RTMC / CSI web server?

cheers,  Paul

Hi Gary,

Nothing seems maxed out in the Task Manager.  It looks pretty normal.
